Hello folks from John Brown of Nashville Tennessee. I hope you find my effort to improve the usability of BBC Radio online helpful. It has been both a labor of love and a curse. It has involved hundreds of hours and goes all the way back to the Betsy Parser days.

I started out with 168 links: when I would listen to a page or try to create something, I would create a favorite for it so I would not have to do it all over again. Many of you know that to get a favorite shortcut to link on a web page so that it will load what you want it to load and do what you want it to do is not always easy for a totally blind person to accomplish. This involved many changes of filenames directory names and link categories. Notice that in some cases I have included information as part of a directory name. I hope you do not mind that bit of inspiration. Remember the old days when you were limited to 8 characters?

When I took up the project again last fall I discovered that BBC had changed its interface and most of my links no longer worked. When I had most things working like I wanted, I discovered the new beta interface and I had to basically start over again again. I like the new interface because the embedded object audio controls work well. I found the beta interface through carefully studying many pages or by accident depending on one's perspective, but I have not figured out how to toggle it on and offat will. There are times that this might be desirable such as on a radio station or i player homepage when searching for additional stations to favorite or podcast. I cannot get podcast downloading to work this side of the pond and I almost think that it not possible using speech alone.

You may use this baby at no cost, but you may not change the links that work. Feel free to delete what you don't need or want in your personal copy. If you can add to it, do it, but you may not charge for your improvement. I would appreciate receiving a copy of any additions, which should be in a new folder so things won't get confusing. Please do not use my baby if you do not agree to these terms.

Oh, what the heck. I play the Highland Pipes and penny whistle and I very much want a good quality whistle and a set of smallpipes or Northumbrian pipes. If anyone has some that need a home, or can help, please let me know. I actually hollered when I got Pipeline to work. Enjoy. John Brown
